dc.description.abstract The altitudinally zoned vegetation of Volca'n Rincón de la Vieja apparently correlates with the Holdridge Life Zones. These include Tropical Moist Forest, Premontane Wet Forest, Premontane Rain Forest, and Lower Montane Rain Forest. There is aiso a complex of recolonising ^ vegetation on and around the ashfieid of the active cráter. Such áreas of vegetation exist in harsh environmental conditions, and exhibit many xerophytic features. A recent eruption is aiso reported, and the damage caused on the summit área is detailed. es_CR
