dc.description.abstract A nest of the nocturnal bee M egalopta centralis Friese is described from a nearly vertical, 22 mm -diameter dead stick along a road through primary lowland tropical wet forest. The cell substrate is wood fragmented by the bee; a single male was reared from a pupa in the nest. Solanum spp. and Calathea insignis are recorded as flower hosts of Megalopta. es_CR
