dc.description.abstract A new subspecies ofthe cantil, Agkistrodon bilineatus howardgloydi, is reported from Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua. This snake is known locally as the castellana, and is distinguished from other subspecies of A. bilineatus by severa} pattem characteristics of the head and body and by a low number of ventral scales. es_CR
